With the help of fit-out and office refurbishment specialists Area Sq, KYOCERA, the multinational electronics and ceramics manufacturer, found their new home in Eldon Court, Reading.
Looking past the building’s general state of disrepair, the designers at Area Sq quickly set about fulfilling KYOCERA’s aesthetic, technical and environmental goals in one bold vision that reflected their brand, heritage and cultural shift in working styles.
Having been vacant for four years, both CAT A and CAT B works needed to be completed and Area Sq worked with the professional teams to combine these in to one project to maximise financial, material and time savings for both landlord and tenant.
Sustainability was an important aspect throughout the project. Ska Rating Gold was attained by maximising natural and energy efficient lighting, air conditioning, diverting 100% waste from landfill, conserving resources and maximising staff wellbeing.
The ground floor features a welcoming reception with soft seating, strong branding and a tranquil courtyard. Also on this floor is a training suite, flexible meeting rooms and a showroom facility demonstrating KYOCERA’s latest technologies. The upper floors shift focus towards staff wellbeing with collaborative zones, high back sofas, café area, informal working points, showers and a games room.
Sketch provided adaptable and flexible furniture choices which were also robust and durable. Pieces include Techo’s Alfa bench desking, Sidiz seating and Orangebox seating.
Simon Essery, Technology & Infrastructure Manager at KYOCERA says: “We are very happy with the final result as it reflects KYOCERA’s brand values and our company culture well. It’s an open and welcoming environment.”
